Harris Williams & Co. is pleased to announce the sale of Lafarge S.A.'s Atlantic Canada Asphalt & Paving Division to the Municipal Group of Companies. The acquisition includes the asphalt and paving assets of Lafarge in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada, which includes five asphalt plants and more than 200 employees. Harris Williams & Co. acted as the exclusive advisor to Lafarge. The transaction closed on May 1, 2009, and was led by John Neuner, Derek Lewis and Luke Semple from the firm's Richmond office.
"This was a great transaction for both organizations as it let's Lafarge focus on its core materials business in the region while enabling the Municipal Group to expand its presence in Atlantic Canada," said John Neuner, Managing Director at Harris Williams.
