"The House of Representatives recently passed legislation that would expand access to treatment via telehealth in the Medicare program and require electronic prescribing for controlled substances within Medicare’s prescription drug program. "The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new regulation in the EU that protects the data privacy of citizens, and gives citizens control over their personal data. The GDPR does not only apply to EU organizations, but to any organization across the world that has access to data of EU citizens. As GDPR takes effect, healthcare organizations need to be aware of the regulation changes to understand how their data exchange and access processes may be impacted. Companies will also need to conduct security risk assessments to determine whether their current security infrastructure meets GDPR standard."
